TAMITIK JUBILEE SPORTS COMPLEX :
The City of Kitimat owns and
operates the community
swimming pool, which is
located in the downtown core
attached to Tamitik Arena.
The pool is open year round,
excluding statutory
holidays.
In the newly modernized Sam Lindsey Memorial Pool there are 4 water areas each with a different water temperature. The main tank will be at 81ºF, the teaching pool at 85ºF, the leisure pool at 90ºF and the whirlpool at 104ºF. To read more see the Pool Page.
Patrons can enjoy the
numerous pool
toys/equipment, 1 m and 3 m
diving boards, tarzan rope
swing, water sprays and
more. Persons with
disabilities are able to
access the pool area via the
stairs, lift or using the
specialized swimming
assistance equipment.
The pool hosts aquafit,
public swims, length swims,
private rentals, swim
lessons and lifeguard
training. Many special
events are held throughout
the year --
ARENAS:
The City
of Kitimat boasts two ice rinks which collectively
extend the ice sports season to 9 months of the
year. Ice is available for user groups or adhoc
renters generally from mid August to mid to late
April annually.
KITIMAT ICE RINK:
The Kitimat Ice Rink offers an 85' x 190' ice surface, 5 dressing rooms, skate rentals and plays host to all the Recreation Department's public skating and seasonal shinney programs. |

TAMITIK ARENA:
The Tamitik Arena truly encompasses a multipurpose atmosphere for the community. Seating 2150 people the Tamitik Arena is an ice surface of 90' x 200', 5 dressing rooms, concession, 2 meeting rooms, and a large lower multifunction lobby. In the off ice season the cement floor hosts indoor soccer, roller hockey, concerts and special events. |

The facility also has a large upper concourse area that extends entirely around the seating area which is extensively utilized for a daily walking program. |
