LEISURE ACCESS :
ECONOMICALLY CHALLENGED
This policy has been established to provide the
economically challenged citizens in our community an
opportunity to participate in recreation programs.
Application can be for one or more family members.
The Tamitik Supervisor and the applicant will
determine the best method of Access to the Leisure
Economic Access Policy program based on the
combined family household income.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE?
Only residents of Kitimat and Kitamaat Village may
apply. Post secondary students are not eligible. The
Leisure Economic Access Policy program is designed for
individuals and families whose combined gross income
falls within or below the “Low Income” levels recognized
by Statistics Canada. Statistics Canada’s “Low Income”
levels are determined, in part, by family size. Pick up a

• Up to 50% off any Recreation program offered
exclusively by the District of Kitimat Recreation
Department (swim lessons, fitness classes, general
programs, workshops); material costs are extra
• Up to 50% off the regular price of memberships for
access to public programs good for swim / skate /
open gym / weight room
• Up to 40% off a regular drop in admission
PUBLIC PROGRAM ACCESS FOR
PHYSICALLY/MENTALLY CHALLENGED
It is recognized that the physically/mentally challenged
population in our community may be accompanied by
able-bodied persons to ensure that public programs
provide a fulfilling and wholesome experience.
• Challenged Person: Membership at 50% or regular
admission fee.
• Assistant to a Challenged Person: Free access to
facilities while assisting a challenged person.
On occasion, exclusive use may be arranged at the
cost of public drop-in fees. Please contact facility
coordinator for details.
